Default local dealer asking 100% mark up

In my quest to find a GTR I came across my local dealer asking nearly 2x over MSRP, i certainly believe in capitalizm, but am I miss sometime, are there only only of handful of theses car avalible like the enzo, f-40, f-50? is the economy better than I'm reading and hearing about in the news? I want this car and wiling to pay a little over MSRP to get one, but if one has to pay double, this making me want to change my oponion on the car. sorry for venting

wow!! I wonder if some idiot will pay that much for it. Just because the GTR best the 911 Turbo doesnt mean you can charge over what a 911 Turbo cost!!!

Is this car in transit to the dealer unsold? It seems alot of CA dealers are doing this type of sale. Order the car for a ghost customer from NNA and then hope to sell it for 20k or more once it arrives at the dealer to the highest bidder. LOL Priceless

The dealership I work for has two of these ghost customer cars, and they want around 120k, because they feel that this car is underpriced for what it is capable of. And funny how they have no idea what a silvia is, but I'm just a salesman, if I had a dealership I'd order lots of them, and sell them for fair market value,

Thats funny that they feel the car is underpriced for what it is capable of. Did they build it? No they are the broker. Nissan has already made the decision on how they feel the car should be priced. The price point at 72k for a premium model is very important to nissan as a statement to the market that it can build a car of these abilities and still make money(not a lot) on every car.

The problem now is not only are the dealers gouging customers with this over MSRP game its that now Car Mags are saying the same freaking thing. Also the dealers are futher screwing customers by backing out of deals they set on the first few cars just to sell them once they come in by sending mass emails to those that have deposits asking 20k-50k over to the first person to agree to it.

My problem with all this is Nissan North America is this how you want the most anticipated super car to be rolled out. People will only get worked over so much until they go to a different car and this has already happend at least 2-3 times. These people were #1 or #2 on these dealers list. Some of these people could buy 120k to 150k cars and bought them. But they didnt buy a GTR for that much. All this is doing is hurting sales of the GTR in the long run. I also think NNA had a part in telling dealers they could and should ask for more than MSRP. Yea Yea we all know dealers have to send people for training and spend 30k in equipment but honestly that is chump change when you have other models helping to pay for that. Here in the south there was a bunch of dealers in the ATL region and my region (alabama, Tennessee) that all were charging 5k over and most seem to be holding to that so i commend them for that. For some paying the markup is not a problem and they will pay it. But for some others 10k 20k 30k 40k etc... puts this car out of there range to afford and these are the people that know every tid bit about the GTR and truely love it. These are the people I feel for.

LOL I guess the speculators that put gas to stupid highs have done the same for the GTR

I agree also handinpants, If i owned a dealership selling GTRs I would sell them at MSRP also. But here is where you are wrong. You cant order cars like maximas and altimas to sit your lot. Nissan had a preordering system and a car could not be built until a deposit and signed buyers order was done(supposly). You are only allocated so many GTRs depending on sales, size, Building is new etc. My smaller dealer here was allocated 4. While another larger dealer in NC Fayetteville was allocated 3 and they sell more cars but the building was not remodeled.(this GM lives next door to my parents and we talked about it)

That is handinpants dealership or him directly! I even mentioned to him I might be interested if the car was in hand ready to be delivered, at over MSRP, but they wanted $115K including tax and license. I said I am out of state, I shouldn't have to pay tax and license. His reply was, "Doesn't matter. You have to pay it anyway, and no discount!" READ: EVEN MORE profit for the dealer.

Needless to say my search continues. My local dealer is waiting on training to release my car. I want it NOW

I had our car on ebay earler for their asking price of $115K, and came in this morning and had been chewed out because NNA called the dealership pissed.
with all do respect, i'd call your dealer if you already prepayed, cause people prepaid at my dealership, and now the dealer is going to tell them they have to pay $40k more....

This is what I was telling people to watch out for. Once the car comes in dealers will ignore the original deal and sell to the highest bidder. If this really keeps up I see lots of dealers getting sued. I wonder what NNA will do about this? The mark up game is really out of control

Was the car you had on EBAY a car that was sold to a customer or a car your dealership ordered to sit and sell to the highest bidder?
