what would this be compared to a roller dyno? I'm trying to distill this to a fair "at the wheels" figure.

Typically, an AWD car will have 15-20% driveline loss. This should be pretty close to the lower end of that, given the only "break" the car is getting from load is the unsprung wheel weight, right?

Not really to the wheels. More like to the crank, but some loses during transferring the power to axles.

According to one of UK's site. They dynoed a stock GTR, and the result is impressive... 457.7 horsepower on the wheels...

Yeah, I think they probably underrated the car again. 20hp lose though transmission and 4 wheels, that's hell of a good deal lol. If the dyno is actual, then the car should have at least 550bhp on the crank.

I agree. Even when Edmunds tested the GT-R they were able to do 0-60 in 3.3 secs, when Nissan only claimed 3.5 sec. I wonder why they wouldn't post their highest numbers? Seems like from a marketing aspect that they would brag about the car. Japanese people can be very modest :D

I'm sure it has something to do with insurance. 500+hp might be a huge increase in policy.
Plus, it's better that a company under qoutes the hp than over qoutes the hp.

They understate 0-60 times for liability sake. Not all GTR's are gonna be the same. Some maybe do it in 3.51 and some maybe 3.48, they need to find a safe figure for all GTR's to achieve. Or else they can face severe law suits.

chevy used 2 do the same thing back in the 60s and they even done it with the ls1 camaro and trans am ws6 they said that it was 325hp come 2 find out they had 350hp...

it looks like nissan is trying to do the same i personally think it has to do with a different type if bragging right, becuz 2 have a faster car with less hp and more weight shows better engineering so maybe they are trying 2 put numbers out there 2 show engineering.. why would they care about hp if the can get people 2 think that they dont need hp 2 be the faster car u kno..

Man This makes me want it even more. I was happy with results I was reading from Nissan and magazines. Thats so tight. no wounder it's doing 11.6 1/4 mile with a 60 1.8
