Hi guys,
Another open track day coming 21st Sunday this weekend. See if anyone wants to go:)
I'll drop by for couple of laps since i've never brought the car to cruise in the track before.
Hope it rains and we save tyres~~:p

Kamarul,
I went yesterday without realising your post here..what a waste. It was a good day without much traffic, i reckon less then 40 cars in total. Weather was 35c during 3pm and 32c appraching 5 pm.
Managed to go out 4 times with each 3 laps...:( and only one lap is quick, the other 2 were for cooling.
best time using the on board timing was 2:33.7 only though. Brake fluid wont take after 150m braking. the car were doing fine except for the trans oil hitting 120c everytime i try to continue my 2nd quick lap.
Oil temp highest at 117c.

GTR shouldnt follow other cars too closely..... or else this might happen!
Tony, that is very respectable time. Very fast!! BTW, what is onboard timing? is it infrared triggered or GPS based.
You definitely need trans and diff coolers for any track use. I can only do 4 laps before the transmission temp went above 130 and all the lights came out.
What tyre do you use?
that is a good time Tony! if that is your cruising time, then you will blow everybody away!! I was curious about the trans oil temp hitting beyong 130 but yours appeared ok. I agree with dkrm that we will need tran and diff coolers for track. Also will need semi race brake pads. Other than that our cars are track ready monsters!!

Kamarul and tee,
the on board timing that i was referring too was the selection (g) on the monitor where we press our own finger on steering wheels :) Another guy with Impreza did put a unit device attached with his mobile phone and found the track time with approx 0.5 sec diff. I think tht's working with the GPS.
Dint have any lights coming out except for the traction control from now and then when under / over steering happening though.
Using the stock Potenza and found it more then enough for street car style driving. I think still can last for another 10~20 quick laps perhaps.
why not we go to the next open day together?? :)
Azri must come!! ;P
As for the trans oil, i was trying to minimise the engine braking so less down shift, which i thought it would help to retain the trans oil temp rise..but like Kamarul said, we only get 4 laps even with the trans cooler?
Tee,
i still find the pads alright, perhaps because i was only doing 1~2 quick laps max every time out. But the fluid will not allow me to do hard braking and i can feel the paddle sinking everytime i try to do so especially on the two main straight..hehehee.. has sent the car for Castrol brake fluid and APP lines though..;)
I was followed closely by a S204 that day.. :(

Azri,
see..tht's why i think we should only drive our car fast in the tract rather then in those trucnk road like the one on the video. Not that we cant do it on the street, but we would have no tolerance for mistake at all..:(
Tony - count me in for the next trip to the track. I am still learning about this car... I have tracked my Scoobie many times at Sepang and know the track very well. I took part in the Hong Kong Classic Car series there for a few years. Loads of fun as the cars do not have ABS, no traction control, no power steering - in other words, pure racing!
I still feel apart from a higher boiling point brake fluid, better pads will make a tremendous difference in stopping power especially turn 1 and 15. :D
Cheers guys and let do a fun run soon at Sepang. Azri must come! :)

tee,
sure do. Let me check when is the next good time for us to go together, may be some private event better.
Again, Azri must come! ;P
Trans fluid will break above 130C. I changed my transmission fluid immediately after the track day last time.
I use Endless brake pad. Highly recommended. But again I use with Endless Monoblock disc and caliper :)
If you start to feel spongy on your brake, may be you want to change the line to braided. It makes a lot of different.
Did you use R, R and R?
