Hi guys,
i just got a price quotation for the RE 070R set for the GTR, it's more than 330.000 YEN (excluding shipment from japan).......ARGHHHHHHHHHH crazy......if i also have to buy new brake sets (as instructed by the manual book) after a couple of track days.....it's gonna cost me almost $10.000 for the brakes and tyre set......i think i'm not gonna do that anymore
i can't get any other tyre here with the exact size. most have slightly lower aspect ratio. 255/35 fronts, and 285/30s rear.
And boy are they cheap compared to those RE 070 R. I'm thinking of getting Michelin Pilot Sport 2....(only around $1400 for a set of 4)
Does anyone have any experience with these tyre?
Or can someone point out any other type of tyre which we could use to replace those 070 R?
Thanks

I come from a Porsche background. I've rolled on Continentals, Pirellis and Michelins all ZR rated for 150+ driving and the only tires that I truly loved were Michelin Pilot Sports. I just ordered my very first GTR and I noticed the car is standard with Bridgestone Tires for the Premium Package. I would be interested in hearing about what you all have experienced and what your recommendations are for such a set-up.

Hi evoh8ter,
i would need the tyres as soon as possible, as i want to take the car out on track. I got the quote from my local tyre supplier here.

Yes,i have to ask my friend to bring in from Japan, cost 10% higher than Japan.i think Original Bridgestone is good for my country's weather...always heavy rain^^.Falken is another choice for Malaysia.for track day you no need the RFTyres, may be Bridgestone semi-slick would be better.

One thing we have to be very careful of is tire circumference. Because of the AWD and locking center diff, the tire circumference of the fronts and rears must be the same. As I understand it the OEM Bridgestones are carefully matched for this, despite the difference in width and aspect ratio. If anyone has info on the front and rear circumference of the tires for substitutes, this would be very useful information.

ted99 is right, when all wheel drive lock in, it should maintain the same diameter of f/r wheels:)

yes, wheels have to be same size front and back. wheel size may have an issue with vdc too, but it all depends on a few other factors, thats what i heard. but no one else has had that problem yet, so i dunno what the problem was on one particular car.
ya speed for sale going to get me a clutch for my wifes honda and stickers, and some wheels. i goto the my friend who is a dealer for tires but... i have contacted speed for sale for tires for friends in japan and found they were getting a way better deal from speed for sale then they would in japan.
when the R888's release call up speed for sale for them!

I just came back from Singapore and talked with some tuners there. They do not recommend non-RFT tyres for the GTR due to handling issues.
Anyhow i also read on the Hyper-Rev magazine about the R888, it is installed on the KW show car in JAS 2009, it is a 285/35 fronts with 315/30 rears.
Most of the other tuners listed in the Hyper-Rev uses standard tyres.

thanks for the information:)
May be the stock tread wear 140(nearly semi-slick) and RFT's harden side wall is hard enough to support the heavy weight body in corners.
I won't go for street high performance anywhere, the side wall is too soft for it. but i guess the real semi-slick is strong enough. problem is hard to find 20" tyre. 19" is a size with many choice.
i know that is a Asian group(not singapore) doing a "design"(cut for tread) with 20" SLICK tyres, for thier GTR + slick tyre legal on the street and sunday race :) , that is much faster than stock tyres.
